A writing class? Really?!?

Why I am here in W131 poses a much bigger question then I realized before writing this blog. Of course the reason I initially signed up is because it is in fact required for my major, as well as most other majors. But, more importantly, I am here to improve my skills as a writer. While I feel I already know how to write in a way that my point is able to be known; it never hurts to learn new skills and develop ones I already have further. Writing, and more so, writing well is a very important trait to posses. It is the tool that allows us as a civilization the ability to communicate with each other without being in hearing distance. With that being said it is extremely important to be able to write in a way that reflects ones self. If one writes terribly it frankly does not matter how smart they are in person, the person who initially read their work looks down upon them. I am truly hoping that this blog post has not caused that with me!

I completely agree with Emily_Thurston. Writing is a way to open doors for yourself in the future. While it certainly may not put a permanent wedge in the door. It will propped it open for a short time in order for you to prove yourself.

  1. I also think it's important to be able to express yourself in writing. It's almost a window in how a person thinks. But, what is the proper way to express yourself? Better yet, is there really a better way to communicate your ideas than the english language. Is it not the goal of communication to clearly express yourself to the point others can understand your meaning?
