Blog Post #1

When I first chose to attend IUPUI I didn’t really give much thought into the classes I wanted to take.  I graduated high school almost 8 years ago and I always knew I wanted to attend college. I started to attend Ivy Tech in Lafayette and after the start of my first semester I chose to drop out. At that time I was living on my own and was unable to pay bills and attend college at the same time. After working a few jobs that I knew I didn’t want as a career I knew I had put college off long enough. So this is my first semester back to college and now I am making school my main priority. Like I mentioned earlier, I never thought too much into my classes and chose them based on prerequisites. After this first week of class I realized how thankful I was to have an elementary writing class.  I want to be a teacher and I feel like it is very important for myself to be a good writer, with the purpose in mind that I need to lead by example for my class. I need to be able to work through a class that I don’t necessarily enjoy, and hopefully learn to enjoy it by becoming good at it.

  1. Writing classes are difficult enough for most people, an 8 year lay off can tend to make it even more difficult. I myself have not been in a writing class for a long time, but here we are .... Good Luck!
