As I look back on that decision, I tend to regret it. I am now a third year student at IUPUI and I wish I had taken W131 my very first semester of college. Writing has become a huge factor in almost every class that I take and no matter what the subject matter. I don't believe that I have had a class that hasn't had some sort of written assignment to go along with whatever we are doing in the class. I agree with curriculum requiring a class like this. Even outside of my college career, I have had to write for important things in my life. I am constantly sending emails to clients that I do work for and I need them to sound as intelligent as I can so that I can continue to gain business from them
Overall I believe this class should remain as a required class for all fields and degrees. Writing is and will continue to be a part of our everyday lives from now until we die.
You make a very clear point, Jacob. Judging from your post, it seems to me that even without this class you've grown accustomed to writing, and you don't sound like your past has been flooded with writing failures. If things go well this class could certainly give you advice, but at the moment you sound extremely fluent and professional. I'm glad you understand the place writing has in today's world.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, what you said is so true and many people fail to realize the involvement English really has in our life.
ReplyDeleteI agree that writing intelligently and proficiently is great importance in the real world. Presentation influences decision-making and writing well is part of being presentable and professional.
