What I Have Learned

During the image analysis essay I learned a lot about advertisements and the tactics advertisers use to get people to do what they want.  I saw that everything in an advertisement has a purpose. Like, the way the subject of the photograph is looking at you, how they are dressed, what they are doing, where they are.  It is all done for a specific reason.  Specifically, I learned about fear advertisements and the effects of fear on people.  Playing on people’s emotions is a very effective means of persuasion.  Fear can be a very motivating factor in an advertisement.
I learned the most in the synthesis essay.  I wrote about my generation, the millennial generation.  I saw the way other generations view the millennial generation.  The views about my generation had never been pointed out to me before.  I think I learned a lot about myself.  When I first read the articles and all the negative things they had to say, I was offended and totally against them.  After I thought about it I realized they had some truth in them.  It is good to know about the way others may see you.  It can be beneficial to know the negative stereotypes about you, especially with employers or professors.  It can explain a lot.

  1. I agree with you about the synthesis essay. I feel like I too learned the most when researching my topic. I aswell would feel offended when first reading about what some people would have to say about our generation. However, reading more and understanding it more would make me feel better about it and be able to put words on paper.

  2. I think its cool that you wrote about fear in advertisements for your image analysis because it's something most people don't consider. You always hear people say "sex sells" but there are many other ways to target people

  3. I also wrote about the millenial generation. I think the skills we have using the internet and cell phones, differentiate us from all other generations.
