Image Analysis/ Synthesis Essays

When I began writing my image analysis, I had no clue where to go after I wrote the descriptions for my images.  I remember doing a similar assignment in high school, but it didn’t compare to the complexity of my college level writing whatsoever.  After I wrote the descriptions, I tried to relate the images together and write with a sense of ownership about both of them.  They both were advertised with sexual appeal, so I wrote about how sexual appeal sells to the public from the media.
When I read the assignment sheet for the synthesis essay, I was very nervous because I had no idea what to write about.  After choosing a topic and reading the articles, I was excited to write my synthesis essay about generation because I felt so strongly about the issue.  One of the articles talked negatively about my generation, so I felt like I could write with a sense of ownership and defend my generation.  After I knew what I wanted to say, my paper was written so much easier because all of my thoughts spilled out into ideas and I didn’t stop writing until I was finished.
Beginning my essays, I felt very uneasy about both of them.  After getting more knowledge about the assignments and writing with a sense of ownership, my essays became a lot easier and I was very proud of the outcome of both of them.  I feel so much more comfortable writing image analysis and synthesis essays now.

  1. What did you learn about how the media uses sex to sell products?

  2. This comment is for you image analysis, when I started minds I had a hard time describing two different ads. You would think that it would be so easy If its just a person in the middle of the page and a background. That paper made me think because I had to say something about the good and the bad. My work was everywhere but I got through it and I think its a good paper. Its just for that paticular assignment you couldnt just choose anything you actually had to think about a point that you were going to make before you started describing anything.

  3. I actually did the generation topic as well, but I sort of had the opposite approach. While I'm part of the millennial generation as well, I wasn't exactly out to defend it. The things they said in my articles were exactly what I have noticed about so many people including myself, so I took the approach as having the the older generation help the millennials to transition into the real-world so that we can bring out our best qualities that we have.

  4. I also wrote about the millenials and I somewhat had the same thought as you, that I am apart of this generation and so I can put in my input of what our generation is. Having that sence of ownership. However my paper didn't end up to be completely defending our generation. My ideas and resaerch led me to analyzing the next generation and how they will turn out.
