learning to open my mind
I have learned so much this semester. I am pretty sure i was grumpy and complained about every assignment that we got in Keith's class. But after actually doing what i was supposed to i ended up liking my papers. Two papers that were challenging to me were the synthesis essay and the analysis essay. As i pushed through and completed these assignments i have learned alot. I have learned to critically think about the subject i am thinking about. I though i knew how to do this before, but truth is i didnt. Class discussions helped me expand my mind and see diffrent perspectives. Also the way Mr. Brown taught class helped alot. I really like how he gave us optional critque. If we took his suggestions or not he was fine with letting us correct our papaer the way we wanted. I have learned how to open up my mind while writing and i know it will be very helpful in my future endeavors.

I like how you say you were "grumpy." I feel the same way. At first i just did the assignment because i had to, but as the semester went on i realized that i wanted to write the papers. I was writing about things i wanted to.
ReplyDeleteI felt the same way. At the start of the assignment I looked at it negatively and dreaded working on it but after picking my topic and having so many options to work this I actually ended up enjoying the image analysis and synthesis essay. I was able to talk about things that interested me and that made the paper more enjoyable and easy to write. I also liked how you pointed out that he didn't care if we used his suggestions or not. He really made it clear that they were our papers and we were writing to please ourselves not to please him and I thought that was very interesting and I liked the way he taught and encouraged that.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't look forward to the start of any assignment. After the research and class discussions though I ended up enjoying ever assignment we did.I also liked how Kieth let US correct our papers he didn't just tell us what was wrong and how to fix it.He gave us the skills to figure it out and correct them ourselves.
ReplyDeleteI didn't look forward to having to write any of the essays that were assigned, but Keith helped me like you. He helped me open my mind and use my thinking skills to actually contribute something special and meaningful to academic essays. Before I would write a paper in a hour and be totally done with it. But now, I have learned to put more thought and care into my papers.
ReplyDeleteI also feel like I have learned a lot this semester. I have never had an english class that has challenged me the way that this class has. I have learned to put a lot more effort into writing essays, especially the synthesis essay. I liked the style of teaching that Keith had and I think we all benefited from it.
