Final definition of Happiness by: Katrina Gambill
At the beginning of the semester my view of what happiness actually is was completly wrong. I thought a way to achieve happiness was by being able to buy whatever i wanted. I also thought that everyones view of what happiness means was the same. After reading Bill Mckibbens book, and writing all my essays for this class, i now realize that true happiness comes from bonds and relationships with people around you. I never realized how important it was to take part in a community or to spend time with your family over working or for me in my case, babysitting. I realize that i am the happiest when i am with people who love me, and when im doing activities I enjoy. I have also come to realize how much the media and advertisment influences what peoples view of happiness is. Happiness has been very hard to define theses past few months, but i now understand that it can only be reached by those who want to have this emotion or feeling, and for those who are willing to sacrifice priorities in order to be with there family and friends.

Do you think you're done developing your definition--or is there a chance you might see it differently after more experiences and reflection?
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way about my views on happiness. It has definitely been hard to define because there are so many different views on the word. I also like how you included your final view on happiness and how you can fully reach it.
ReplyDeleteI think that my view on happiness is will change as i get older and as i learn more and gain more knowledge.
