Synthesis Essay
I personally loved writing the synthesis essay. I chose to write about promoting and educating children on homosexual sex along with the "traditional sex" as well. It is said that developing our kids into smart, sexual beings is vital to their future happiness. So why should this not be applied to every child if it is so important for their future happiness and not just to the children that are "socially accepted." There are many reasons on why I think this approach would benefit everyone. The gay community would feel more apart of "society" and would be more comfortable with who they are without worrying about being harassed, along with the heterosexual population being more open to accepting homosexuality with open arms without discrimination. This was along the lines I was going with in the essay. During class discussions where homosexuality was brought up I heard dehumanizing words, such as "dyke" and "butch". When was it ever OK to dehumanize anyone for just simply being who they are? For the parents out there with children now, how would you feel having a gay daughter or son being pushed out of society and discriminated against because they just so happen to be homosexual? Just a thought I guess everyone should think about. Having a gay sister myself I have seen her struggle to be accepted all her life, and with homosexuality being more and more openly expressed as the generations grow, I think the time has come to treat everyone equally and stop the isolation and putting labels on the people who do not fit "your" category on what is "normal" and giving every child the opportunity to reach happiness.
