Africa

Earlier in the semester, we read those two articles dealing with race. The African-American author proposed an idea of reparations being giving to African-Americans in an effort to make up for slavery, or at least the understanding that something wrong took place for all of those years. Some African-American activists propose the idea of going back to Africa, the Homeland of blacks. Most African-Americans turn their noses up at the thought of going back to Africa because of the poor condition the continent is in. Has anyone, black or white, taken the time out to consider why Africa is in such a disastrous state? Has anyone considered that Africa lacks scientifically, industrially, educationally, and in so many other aspects from America and other countries because their working men were stripped from them during the slave trade. We often attribute Africa's poverty to them just not being as advanced as us. We often forget that Egypt is apart of Africa, and their ancient culture is still more advanced than ours in certain aspects. We often forget that slavery still has monumental affects in our world today.
