Blog #2

I have really enjoyed Generation Me for the parts of it that I have read, and I am only about 2 chapters behind so that is quite a bit that I have read haha.  But really, I like the book.  I think that Twenge can be a little bias at times and confused about what generation she truly does fit into according to her standards.  I however think as well that her points and research is very interesting.  I find that many things that she says I myself have noticed, especially the increase in sex among this generation.  I think this also has to do with advertising and the media, but in general this is the way that our society has been shifted and the idea has almost overtaken us.  I think that if I was to write about anything in this book, it would be about the sex drive transition of Gen Me.  This fascinates me honestly, in comparison to other generations.  Maybe Twenge is right, or maybe in previous generations it was just more of a private matter.  Either way, it's still an interesting and popular topic.  I would like to discover whether or not there is a shift in this epidemic idea or not among the generations.  Were people according to Twenge's research really not as sexually driven as we are today? Or as 'crazy about sex' as we are today? Of course we know that it wasn't as open of a discussion in previous decades, but that doesn't change the human body and the hormones it contains.  I hope to answer my questions about whether Gen Me is sex crazed and find out if I truly agree with Twenge's research or not.

  1. Great point of view, I also believe Twenge can be biased on some aspects of her work.
